I'd like to recognize the people who've made significant contributions to the FJ Car Computer project. These people went out of their way to help or they contributed an idea that has made a significant improvement in the project. Thank you all!

Marty Griffin - Marty set me up with RealVNC, the remote desktop software that allows me to sit comfortably in my home office and connect to the FJ Computer and do anything that I would be able to do while sitting in the FJ. He installed it for me, showed me how to use it and liberated me from sitting in the garage until the wee hours of the weekend. Come to think of it, Marty helped inspire this project because many years ago he invited me to go on one of his balloon launches with the Edge of Space Sciences group and I took my new Intel 386 laptop with a GPS and did my best to help navigate the back roads of Eastern Colorado. As I remember, it didn't work all that well, but it planted the seed for one day having an easy-to-use, safe, in-car navigation system.

Ron Brumfield - Ron did everything but order the Kyocera KR1 for me. Without it I wouldn't have mobile Internet, Internet Radio, the Rolling Web Cam, remote sync or Virtual Earth Navigation. He found the best price for me, told me which version of the firmware I needed for my Verizon card and has offered to let me play with his new Verizon card sometime.

Richard Sprague - Richard convinced me to give FolderShare a try, and it has been one of the best additions to the project. It's a fairly simple (though with a quirky user interface) folder sharing and syncing application. I have a folder I call FJ Sync on all of my computers. If I drop a file into the folder from any of my computers, it magically ends up on the FJ car computer the next time it comes on line. It also keeps all of my Internet Explorer Favorites in sync across all my computers and gives me the ability to search all files on all computers from anywhere. How cool is that? I'd still be struggling with file sync across four computers and three different operating systems if not for this tip. I'm even able to sync a folder with a friend who owns a Mac.

George "Woody" Dunwoody - Woody and his brother run Extreme Autoworks in Lakewood Colorado. Woody did a great job of installing the first computer, and his excellent wiring job made it possible for me to install the Infill. I'll be going back again soon for a power upgrade.

Angela Watson - Angela was the first Friend of the FJ Car Computer Project. She helped me research it in her spare time and had the vision of how cool it would be to put a computer into an FJ Cruiser. She also showed me how to remove the dash of the FJ and she convinced me that I could install the latest computer without burning up my garage.

I'd also like to recognize the companies that make the major products that I'm using. They are pioneers.

StreetDeck and MP3car.com - MP3car.com is where I first realized that there are a lot of other car computer fanatics in the world. StreetDeck.com is the name of the software development group that has created the front-end software that I use on my Infill T3 car computer. You can buy StreetDeck and the Infill T3 car computer at MP3car.com. Keep up the great work guys!

Verizon Wireless - I switched to Verizon Wireless to get the Treo 700w. Please keep increasing the speed of the wireless data network, building new towers, and delivering the best phones and wireless devices. The fact that you work with the Kyocera KR1 is just one of the things that keeps me as a customer.

Kyocera - I bought the Kyocera KR1 from Booster-Antenna.com and they run a website called EVDOinfo.com where a bunch of wireless internet experts hangout. I owned one of the first PDA phones from Kyocera years ago and I'm glad to be a customer again. It seems to me that Kyocera really took a chance on this product, and I hope anyone who needs an internet connection that can go anywhere will consider the KR1. I've installed it in the FJ so that I can easily remove it in case I need my own internet connection at a trade show, hotel or any place else that has power and is within the Verizon EVDO service area.

Fentek Industries - I looked everywhere for a small, wireless (RF) keyboard with a built-in mouse. I finally found it here, and I ordered it over the phone and had it within the week. The wireless transmitter connects via USB and I had it working within the first five minutes. It also fits perfectly under the passenger seat of the FJ.
